December is upon us and I am sure that many of you have planned your holiday party but I would be amiss to not make a mention of VanDusen Botanical Garden. We all put so much work into creating the perfect magical Christmas atmosphere the gardens are your one stop shop for the beauty and magic of the season. Your friends and guests will be stunned by the amazing display of over a million dazzling lights. You and your guests are welcome to enjoy the special seasonal programming being presented.

  • Dancing Lights on Livingstone Lake starts nightly at 4:30pm: two different shows alternate every thirty minutes throughout the evening
  • Photos with Santa and the backdrop of a million twinkling lights (December 11 – 24)
  • Scandinavian Christmas Gnomes, Svend and Jens, appear nightly in three performance areas
  • Mischievous Grinch and his secret hut
  • Shadow puppet performance by the talented duo Mind of a Snail
  • Choirs on the Performance Stage
    • Community choirs (December 11 – 20)
    • VOC Sweet Soul Gospel Choir (December 21)
    • The Christmas Revelers (December 22 – 23)
  • Make-A-Wish Candle Grotto
  • Candy Cane Express model train
  • Make-A-Wish “Room of Joy” featuring a Parade of Lego creations by the Vancouver Lego Club
  • Special themed areas: Gingerbread Wood, Golden Chain Walk, and Candy Cane Lane

VanDusen Botanical Garden offers some choices of spaces for your events.

The BMO hall and the Peggy Gunn Woodland Hall A & B (together) located in the architecturally stunning and award-winning Visitor Centre — one of the world’s most environmentally advanced buildings — offers picturesque views of Livingstone Lake. These two rooms will both hold up to 60 seated guests.

The Floral Hall and Cedar room located in a Mid-century modern space with post and beam architecture overlooking the Cascadia Garden stream offer a cosy space for larger and smaller events with the Floral Hall seating 120 people and the Cozy Cedar room holding 20 people seated.
