We think Instagram is even better than Pinterest for wedding planning inspiration! Here’s how you can use Instagram’s endless inspiration for planning your big day.
Make collections and vision boards

Instagram has a post-saving feature that’s pretty awesome. Easily create multiple collections of favourite products, dresses, food, decor, florals, colours, brands, and more. It’s like creating an ultimate wedding wish list within the app. Also, you can keep track of potential vendors you’re interested in as well as any inspiring images as you scroll. Categorize by colour, theme, or topic and access them anytime.

Real life weddings to inpsire you

Furthermore, Instagram contains a plethora of real wedding content from real people all over the world (whereas Pinterest has mainly professionally shot  and styled weddings). In addition, IG tends to give a more realistic behind-the-scenes perspective rather than the massive, aspirational dreams of big budget Pinterest or magazine wedding spreads. Another bonus? IG wedding posts will range from super fresh at just minutes old, to gorgeously vintage memories from someone’s 70s wedding. So. Much. Inspiration.

#weddingWednesday Top Wedding Trend for 2019 Pantone Color of the Year: Coral When Pantone announced that a coral hue had the 2019 honor of being named the Color of the Year, we immediately jumped on board. This bright shade is perfect for spring and summer weddings, and it also allows Coral Charm peonies to be even more in style. Consider using hints of this color throughout your stationery, flowers, and tablescape. Remember it’s also a beautiful shade for your bridesmaids’ dresses or groomsmen’s bowties as well. emeraldevents.ca (604) 603-7299 2019 BC Wedding Award Winner for Wedding Coordinator of the year! #wedding #bride #love #weddingday #weddingphotography #weddingdress #photography #weddinginspiration #weddingplanner#makeup #fashion #prewedding #party #weddings #bridal #weddingphotographer #groom #bridetobe #like#love #style #photooftheday #flowers #art #instagram

Check out vendors in action

In addition, whether you’re ready to hire an event planner, florist, photographer, caterer, cake baker, or other vendor, your Instagram feed can give you a helpful look into their style, quality of work, and general approach. You’ll get a good feel for each company’s aesthetic, plus you might get some great related ideas by just looking around.

Emerald Events’ Instagram account at @emeraldeventsca gives our existing and potential clients an insider’s look into the multitude of weddings we’ve planned, themes we’ve helped create, and the overall passion and heart we put into our work. Our Instagram shows off some of the many reasons why we won The British Columbia Wedding Award’s Wedding Coordinator of the Year for 2019!

Explore new bridal brands and find your venue

Ultimately, Instagram is the hottest new e-commerce destination—you’ll find many incredible, unique boutique fashion and bridal brands that you’ve probably never heard of, but that are doing amazing, creative things. Want a special, non-traditional wedding dress that you won’t find in bigger stores? Instagram is a great source. Take a peek at unique wedding dress options on local accounts like @elika.in.love and stunning handmade dresses at @lovenotebride

In addition, did you know that the “places” search tab lets you take a tour of potential venues? Scrolling through a possible venue’s tagged photos or the location tag can give you a real life look at how weddings look and work in the space. You’ll get a much better sense of whether it’s workable for what you have in mind. Take a peek at the @riverwayclubhouse or the @pipeshopvenue and many more…

We want to know what YOU think of Instagram’s wedding planning potential!
