The Importance of the Local Wedding Show

The Local Wedding show

Keeping your wedding on budget means connecting with local vendors and the best way to do this is to take in a local wedding show.

This week I had the pleasure of meeting brides who along with their families, partners and or wedding parties braved heavy snow to attend a wedding show in Langley. Keeping it local (think 100 mile diet for weddings) is becoming more important to brides. The internet is great but your local wedding show is  an ideal way to meet and connect with vendors in your community. If it’s value you are looking for, then meeting people who offer services inside your area will always net you a better deal in the end. Many vendors offer show discounts and can arrange special rates based on your personal needs.

A very long time ago, I was a bride planning my wedding. I attended a Welcome Wagon Bridal showcase in Surrey, not only did I get some great ideas and contacts but also I found it comforting to meet brides that were feeling their way along like myself.

Despite the convenience of the internet, I think that brides (and an amazing amount of grooms) still like to get out and meet each other. Together they can see and touch all sorts of products and services at one setting. Not to be missed is an opportunity to see firsthand the latest trends in colour and style. The highlight of most wedding shows is the fashion show; you will see many different styles of wedding dresses, brides maid dresses and the crowd favorite, grooms attire.

There are prizes galore for most shows, as every vendor provides a door prize and many individual vendors also offer a prize at their booths as well. Almost everyone is giving out something, from a pen or magnet to a yummy snack. When you leave the show you will always walk out with valuable information and maybe a prize and a treat.

Although you will find me here on the internet, I also like to get out and meet people at wedding shows. I find it so interesting to hear everyone’s stories and plans. If you see me at a show, stop by and say hello.

Human interaction is so important in wedding planning! I can’t agree more–meet your vendors in person and go local for as much as your budget allows. However, it DOES make sense to buy certain things online if it means you’ll save money.
